MILES COLLEGE GENERAL RULES FOR TAILGATING
❖ SETUP: Tents or canopies must be secured and may not obstruct sidewalks. Tailgating amenities, including furniture, grills, or generators, should not obstruct sidewalks, GRILLING: Grills, propane or otherwise, should always be attended to. To avoid stains on concrete surfaces, a dripping pan must be placed underneath grills/deep fryers to catch grease. All fires must be contained within grills. Extinguish charcoal fires thoroughly with water before leaving them unattended. Be sure that charcoal from pits is cooled and taken with you to be disposed of properly. DO NOT leave or dump charcoal, wood, grease, or other flammable materials in trash cans, grass, streets, or parking lots.
❖ TRASH AND CLEAN UP: All tailgating groups are responsible for making sure their assigned tailgating area is clean. All trash and recyclables must be disposed of in proper receptacles. Tailgating spaces not thoroughly cleaned could result in the individual/group losing future tailgating privileges.
❖ ALCOHOL/BEVERAGES: Possession and consumption of alcohol must be in full compliance with applicable laws of the state of Alabama and Miles policy. Public displays of cans, bottles, or other alcoholic beverage containers are strictly prohibited. Under no circumstances shall persons under 21 years of age be served, sold, or have possession of alcoholic beverages in the designated tailgating areas. All persons consuming alcohol in the designated tailgating area shall carry a government-issued pictured ID that also shows the person's birth date.
❖ TENT GUIDELINES: Staking Tents are NOT PERMITTED. Tents must be secured using sandbags, weights, etc., and stay within the allotted space.
❖ TRAVEL LANES/SIDEWALKS: All sidewalks, drive lanes, and fire lanes must be clear of all tables, chairs, grills, other equipment, and vehicles.
❖ GENERATORS: Tailgates that require electricity must have portable generators. All generators must be equipped with a noise-reducing device.
❖ CONDUCT: Tailgating at Miles is a family-friendly environment. Individuals, groups, and organizations participating in tailgate are responsible for their conduct and are expected to respect the rights of others and the Miles College community. Abusive and disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Individuals who interfere with other people's rights by using loud, offensive language, behavior, and music that prevent others from enjoying tailgating will be asked to cease the behavior or leave. Music must not interfere with the integrity of the game. Failure to do so will result in the permanent loss of all tailgating privileges. Children should be supervised at all times.
❖ SECURITY AND SAFETY: Each tailgate party is responsible for securing tailgate Items. If the entire tailgate party chooses to enter the stadium for the game, it is their responsibility to lock food, beverages, and valuables out of sight; extinguish all fire or flames; unplug electrical outlets; secure tents, tables, chairs, etc. before leaving the site. Miles College is not responsible or liable for accidents, damage, loss, or theft of materials, items, or personal property at any time.
PROHIBITED:
- No consumption of illegal controlled substances
- No open alcohol containers
- No sale of alcohol
- No pubic intoxication or disorderly conduct
- No pets allowed unless Certified Service Animal on a lease (Please clean up behind your pet)
- No open fires/fire pits/bonfires
- No bouncers or any inflatable structures
- No sale of apparel, souvenirs, food, or beverages
- No weapons
- No public address systems or deafening stereo systems that play abusive or derogatory lyrics that disrupt the tailgating experience of others
- No glass bottles
INDEMNIFICATION: Miles College assumes no responsibility whatsoever for any property on Miles Campus, and Miles is expressly released and discharged from all liabilities for any loss, injury, or damage to persons or property that may be sustained because of the occupancy.
All tailgaters agree that they will indemnify, release, and hold harmless Miles College and its successors, Board of Directors, Trustees, and employees from all damages or other liabilities caused within the tailgating areas because of any injury to persons or property caused by any act or omission of the tailgate or any of its officers, agents, employees, guests or other persons admitted by the tailgater upon the premises. In case of any damage done to the said premises due to the tailgater's use, the tailgater shall pay such amounts as necessary to put the said premises in as good order and condition as the same were at the event's commencement.
